Cooking tools you should have
MORTAR & PESTLE
If you want to show off how far back to basics you are prepared to go, make a lot of noise with this Cobek & Ulekan (pestle & mortar). This tool has been in use for hundreds of years to prepare ingredients or substances by crushing and grinding them into a fine paste or powder. No electricity required!
OK, back to the future. I admit I use this more often than the mortar & pestle, because it is so easy. Use it to chop, mix, blend, whip, grind & more. It’s truly magic!
In the wok we make our nasi goreng, our bakmi goreng, we use it for deep frying, steaming and for all kinds of stir fry. Carbon steel is relatively light in weight, providing quick heat conduction, and having reasonable durability. The bottom is also “padded” with extra steel so it is thicker and allows the bottom area to hold heat well.
ELECTRIC RICE COOKER
Cooking rice is easy peasy with this electric rice cooker. This is the exact brand and model I use. Can’t go wrong with this one. Rice is perfect. Best bang for the buck.
My mom and grandma cooked by taste & feel, a bit of this and a bit of that. They had a built-in weighing scale. When it comes to making pastry, I learned you have to follow the exact weights. So, this is a digital scale (yes batteries required) I have in my collection.
This non-stick pan makes perfect Dutch dollar-pancakes. I am also suggesting to use this for other recipes. Coming soon!
STACKABLE FOOD CARRIER (RANTANG)
This one is a gem for the kitchen counter. It comes in different colors and is that vintage design element in your kitchen. The KitchenAid Artisan Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer will easily make your favorite cakes and all kinds of dough.
