A series of Indo & Dutch food events are scheduled for this summer and fall. I will be doing either a book presentation, a food demonstration and/or a cooking workshop, sometimes followed by a brunch or dinner party. Sunday, June 23rd, Venice – A unique Dutch Brunch – cooking class and brunch party. Learn how to make a ‘Hollandse Koffietafel’ (literal translation Dutch Coffee Table). Enjoy more than 25 different items with traditional foods like ‘kroket’ (meat ragout) from scratch and the classic ‘uitsmijter’ an open-faced sandwich. Sign up here.
Saturday, July 20, Los Angeles – Exotic Indonesian 3-course menu. Learn how to make tasty appetizers like Pangsit Goreng – deep-fried wontons with a meat/fish filling, krupuk udang – shrimp crackers. Entree consists of; Gado Gado vegetable salad with peanut dressing, babi kecap – braised pork in soy sauce, sayer lodeh – vegetable stew, sambal goreng teller – spiced eggs and steamed rice. For dessert a delicious Pisang Goreng – fried banana beignets with vanilla ice cream.. Sign up here.
