Now, this is a brilliant idea! You can prepare your Gado Gado ahead of time by layering it in a jar and keeping it ready and waiting for you in the fridge. It’s perfect for enjoying at any time of the day, whether you’re at home or on the move. Simply take it with you wherever you go!
Layers full of goodness
Create a jar filled with this exotic salad bursting with flavor. When you’re ready to enjoy it, simply remove the lid and turn the jar upside down over a plate or bowl. Shake out the contents or use a spoon to help. The final layer should be the peanut sauce, drizzled over the other ingredients. Make sure to scoop out all of the delicious peanut sauce. Before diving in, I like to give my Gado Gado a good mix, ensuring that all the ingredients are well coated with the peanut sauce. Then, I top it off with krupuk (shrimp crackers) for an extra crunch, along with some fried shallots. Simply divine!
Start building
Layer 1: Start with a delicious peanut sauce – special recipe by Jeff Keasberry – featured in his new book: Indo Dutch Kitchen Secrets
Layer 2: Cabbage, shredded, blanched
Layer 3: Green beans, bite-size pieces, blanched
Layer 4: Bean sprouts, raw or blanched
Layer 5: Cucumber, sliced 1” and quartered
Layer 6: Hard-boiled egg(s), sliced and quartered
Layer 7: Boiled potatoes, diced.
My recipes are usually for four people. If you’re cooking for just yourself, use 50% of the ingredients listed in the recipe.
For storing, use a medium-sized mason jar or a jar with a capacity equivalent to a used Dill Pickle Spears jar (approximately 24 ounces).
